Nicole L. Birri, Ed.D., is a training specialist for the Illinois Center for Transition and Work through the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). She has over 15 years experience teaching transition aged students and young adults with a range of disabilities in the school and post-secondary education settings. Prior to becoming a training specialist, Nicole served as a UIUC post-doctoral fellow, gaining extensive knowledge in issues related to educating secondary and transition aged students with severe disabilities. Her research interests focus on workplace social skills. Particularly, she is interested in evidence and research-based practices for teaching workplace social skills to adolescents and young adults with severe disabilities. In addition to her research, she sits on the editorial board for The Journal of Special Education and Preventing School Failure. Nicole also holds membership in the Council of Exceptional Children (CEC) and the Association for Behavior Analysis International.
