Yvonne Carey

Yvonne A. Carey, Ph.D., is an instructional training specialist for the Illinois Center for Transition and Work through the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Yvonne coordinates a graduate degree program for practicing teachers who work with students who have severe disabilities. She teaches several classes including effective instructional strategies, learning environments and critical life span issues for students with severe disabilities. Prior to working with UIUC, Yvonne worked with Chicago Public Schools providing resources and supports to teachers working with students who have behavioral issues and severe disabilities. Her research interests focus on effective instructional strategies for students who have severe disabilities and personnel preparation of special education teachers. Yvonne sits on the editorial board of Focus on Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities.
